‘about space’: 3660 SW River Parkway, Portland, OR 97239
Helen Hiebert’s MOTHER TREE continues her journey this May through July at ‘about space’ in Portland’s South
Waterfront. The life-size handmade paper dress is an expression of the artist’s vulnerability, strength and sense of community she feels as a mother. Since debuting last February as part of the Portland Building's Installation Space
program presented by the Regional Arts & Culture Council (RACC), over three hundred crocheters from around
the world have contributed to the piece. Join those from as far as New York, Hawaii, Denmark, Australia and Tasmania by crocheting “roots” at the opening and closing events.
‘about space’ is presented by Heidi McBride Gallery & Art Consultancywith Atwater Place and South Waterfront Community Relations.
I love paper, especially handmade paper and I exhibit my experimental work with handmade paper, teach and lecture internationally about papermaking and lamp making. I've written three how-to books on and have just completed my first film, Water Paper Time. Visit my website at: http://www.helenhiebertstudio.com
